Beast Wars debuted in 1996 as a new direction for the Transformers brand. Kenner’s figures transformed between robots and animals such as gorillas, dinosaurs, and insects. The combination of mechanical and organic designs created a distinctive look. The toys were supported by a popular computer-animated television series.
